Maharjan elected as president of Valley Mayors Forum

LALITPUR, April 7: Lalitpur Metropolitan City's Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan has been elected President of the Valley Mayors Forum.

LALITPUR, April 7: Lalitpur Metropolitan City's Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan has been elected President of the Valley Mayors Forum. 


A meeting of the Forum concluded on Thursday elected Basudev Thapa (Mayor of Surya Binayak Municipality) the Vice-President, Ghanashyam Giri (Mayor of Chandragiri Municipality) the general-secretary and Prakhash Adhikari (Mayor of Tokha Municipality) secretary, according to the Forum.

Similarly, Krishna Hari Maharjan (Mayor of Tarakeshwor Municipality) is the Treasurer of the Forum while Surendra Shrestha (Mayor of Madhyapur Thimi Municipality is the general-secretary. 


Other members elected to the Forum are mayors and deputy mayors of the remaining municipalities in the Valley. 


The network of mayors and deputy mayors of metropolitan cities, Sub-metropolitan cities and municipalities in the Kathmandu Valley elected a new executive committee.


In the first meeting of the newly elected executive committee of the Forum, they decided to install an automatic vehicle detection and monitoring system in Nagdhunga, the main entrance to the Kathmandu Valley. The estimated project cost is Rs 20 million.
