KATHMANDU, August 16: The main opposition party, CPN-UML has drawn attention of the government to help address demands put forth by the agitating former Gurkha veterans.

The ex-Gurkha veterans have been staging a relay hunger strike in front of the office of the British Prime Minister in London demanding equal pension pay. They have now threatened to launch a fast-unto-death protest to exert pressure on the British government to meet their demands.

Demands of the former Gurkha veterans are natural and reasonable so the government must not delay to solve their issues diplomatically, the UML Spokesperson Pradip Gyawali said in a press statement on Monday.

Meanwhile, a cabinet meeting held earlier on Monday urged the former Gurkha veterans, who are currently staging a hunger strike in London, to withdraw their strike. The government said that it has already initiated diplomatic talks with the British government to address their demands.
