“Based on the recommendation of the District Security Committee, the DAO, Kathmandu, has decided to issue an order with effect from November 22 till next 30 days,” said Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kathmandu, Jitendra Basnet.

Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office Spokesperson Rajendra Prasad Bhatta said that the DAO has issued a prohibitory order in the Maitighar area since November 20, and the agitating parties have been removed from the Maitighar area. The protestors in Maitighar had been protesting for a long time by installing tents on the right of the service lane going to Thapathali at Maitighar.

This was affecting the traffic on that lane. After the declaration of the Maitighar area as a prohibited zone, it has been decided to recommend to the Chief District Officer to declare prohibited areas so that no more than five people can gather, hold processions, sit-ins, encirclement, protest programs like meetings in these areas.
