Man arrested for defrauding Rs 700,000 under the pretense of facilitating travel to Russia

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office of Nepal Police has arrested a person from Kailali on the charge of defrauding people by promising to send them to Russia for foreign employment.

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: A team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office of Nepal Police has arrested a person from Kailali on the charge of defrauding people by promising to send them to Russia for foreign employment.


Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office Information Officer and Superintendent of Police Milan KC said that the arrested person is Saroj Thapa, 28, a resident of Kailali Lamkichuha Municipality-6 and currently residing in Kirtipur Municipality-10, Kathmandu.

According to Superintendent KC, Thapa, who was arrested, said that he would send Mohan Saud to Russia for foreign employment and it would cost him Rs 730,000 and after reaching Russia, he would get a job in a prestigious company with a salary of Rs 100,000.


He was arrested on the basis of a complaint that he cheated the victim repeatedly by taking a total of Rs 730,000.


He has been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment for further investigation.
