ILAM, April 1: District Court, Ilam, has sentence a 23-year old man from the district to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of rape of his 63-year-old stepmother.
A bench of District Court Judge Harishchandra Inganam sentenced the man to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 60,000. The accused had raped the mother while she was sleeping in the kitchen on the night of August 23, 2020. He had opened the lock and entered the room, according to the verdict of the court.

The victim had lodged a complaint at the District Police Office on August 24. The accused was arrested by the police on August 26. The victim underwent a medical examination at Ilam Hospital on August 24.
