Manakamana cable car service taken by more than one million in 11 months, highest ever in the past one month

KATHMANDU, June 17: The Manakamana cable car service has transported over one million passengers during the fiscal year 2022/23.


This remarkable figure marks the highest number of passengers in the past 25 years, with an astonishing 150,000 individuals utilizing the service during Jestha (mid-May to mid-June) alone.

Rajesh Babu Shrestha, the director of the company, said, "This fiscal year, we have provided cable car service to an astounding 1,021,239 passengers. This year, we surpassed the previous monthly record of 135,272, which was set in Jestha of the year 2018/19."


Shrestha further mentioned that during Jestha of the current fiscal year, an average of 4,700 passengers availed themselves of the cable car service daily, showcasing the widespread popularity and convenience it offers.


Additionally, out of the total customer base, approximately 269,000 passengers hailed from India during the 11-month period. Indian visitors accounted for 26.41% of the overall customer count, while Nepali passengers represented 69.08%, as reported by Shrestha.


With the incredible success witnessed thus far, the company projects that the number of passengers will continue to soar, reaching an estimated 1.15 million by the end of this year.
