Manakamana Cable Car suspends its service owing to possible spread of COVID-19

KATHMANDU, March 19: Manakamana Cable Car service will remain shut from March 21 to April  12 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

KATHMANDU, March 19: Manakamana Cable Car service will remain shut from March 21 to April  12 to prevent the spread of coronavirus. 


According to Executive Director of Manakamana Dharsan Pvt Ltd. Rajesh Babu Shrestha, the company has decided to halt its services considering the possible spread of COVID-19.

“Amid this global pandemic, we decided to halt the services. Our company is not just profit-oriented, we equally pay attention to the people's health,” he added. 


Hundreds of visitors visit Manakamana Temple and enjoy the cable car services every day. Manakamana is one of the busiest Hindu shrines in Nepal which draw significant number of visitors every day. 


The government of Nepal has also urged one and all to avoid public gathering, celebrations and feasts to prevent the COVID-19 outbreak.
