Maoist Center forms 125-member Politburo

KATHMANDU, July 7: The CPN (Maoist Center) has formed a 125-member politburo of the party.

KATHMANDU, July 7: The CPN (Maoist Center) has formed a 125-member politburo of the party.


A Central Committee (CC) meeting of the party held on Thursday made a decision to this effect. Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had read out the names of those included in the 125-member committee.

As per the existing provision in the party statute, the size of the politburo should be a maximum one-third of the total CC members. Similarly, the party's standing committee should not exceed one-third of the total members of the politburo.


Some of the top leaders of the party included in the politburo include Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Dev Gurung, Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Barsha Man Pun, Haribol Gajurel, Shakti Basnet, Janardan Sharma, Chakrapani Khanal, Pampha Bhusal, Hit Man Shakya and Kul Prasad KC. 


Matrika Yadav, Jaya Puri Gharti, Lila Mani Pokharel, Dinanath Sharma, Surendra Karki, Narayan Dahal, Ganesh Man Pun, Kali Bahadur Malla, Jhakku Prasad Subedi, Suresh Ale Magar, Maheshwar Dahal, Lekhanath Neupane, Onsari Gharti, Debendra Poudel,Satya Pahadi, Renu Dahal, Bina Magar, Yubaraj Chaulagain,  Ram Prasad Sapkota, Shali Ram Jamakattel, Himal Sharma, Renu Chand, Shyam Shrestha and Khil Lal Devkota are also among those nominated as politburo members.
