A meeting of the Maoist parties held on March 10 had decided to hold a joint press conference and interact with civil leaders and intellectuals about the detailed peace agreement. Accordingly, a joint press conference was held on March 12, and there will be a program to interact with civic leaders today.

The Maoist leaders, who waged the decade-long People’s War from 1996 to 2006, are alarmed by the recent decision of the Supreme Court to allow registration of petitions against CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal over the case of mass murder during the insurgency period. The apex court, while  issuing the  order, made it clear that the victims of the conflict cannot be denied justice indefinitely. It has been more than 16 years since the then Maoist rebels signed the comprehensive peace agreement with the state actors but the victims are still denied justice on various pretexts.
