KATHMANDU, June 8: Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah has kept a map of 'Greater Nepal' in his office.

Mayor Balen is currently in Bangalore, India. Metropolitan sources said that he instructed them to keep this map before going to India. According to sources, a new map was placed in the Mayor's Office on Thursday.
A new map of Akhanda Bharat that includes Lumbini and Kapilvastu has been displayed in the recently inaugurated New Parliament Building of India. This has drawn widespread protests at the level of ordinary people in Nepal.
The map of 'Greater Nepal' encompasses the Nepali borders from 1791 to 1816. Nepal was compelled to cede significant portions of its territory following the signing of the Sugauli Treaty with the East-Indian Company at the conclusion of the Anglo-Nepalese War in 1816.
Meanwhile, Pakistan and Bangladesh have sought clarifications from the Indian government over the map that includes parts of modern-day Pakistan and Bangladesh. The Akhanda Bharat map has drawn serious controversies in both the countries as in Nepal.
