KATHMANDU, Aug 21: A man who allegedly masterminded the smuggling of 33 kilograms gold through the Tribhuvan International Airport earlier this year has been arrested in the Capital on Monday. Rajan Prasad Pant, the main accused in the smuggling case, was nabbed from TIA while returning back from Dubai.

Police said that Pant had gone on a hide in Dubai after Nepal Police seized the 33 kg of smuggled gold from Pingalasthan of Kathmandu. The precious yellow metal was cleared by the TIA customs.
Before Pant, police had arrested 33 people in connection with the smuggling including SSP Shyam Khatri, TIA customs official Shree Narayan Yadav. The duo had helped the 'gold mules' to smuggle the gold through the TIA. Police had arrested Khatri after he was found to be in regular contact with Yadav.
