KATHMANDU, July 8: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Mayor Balendra Shah aka Balen Shah has held a meeting with former Prime Minister and Chairman of the Federal Council of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Dr. Baburam Bhattarai.
Shah reached Bhattarai's residence on Friday morning to hold a meeting with him. It is stated that a number of issues related to KMC were discussed during the meeting.
Balen received suggestions from Dr Bhattarai on how to advance development of Kathmandu Valley while still retaining unique civilization and cultural heritage here.
KMC Mayor Balen has no system, will find it difficult to delive...
Bhattarai wrote on social media Twitter, "Meaningful discussions were held with Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah and his team on the problems of the metropolis and planned development. My best wishes for his success."
Along with Dr Bhattarai, Balen also held a meeting with his wife Hisila Yami and daughter Manusi Yami Bhattarai.
Addressing a public event on Thursday, Dr Bhattarai had said that Balen, who won the mayorship of KMC as an independent candidate, did not have a 'system' and that it would be difficult for him to deliver results.
He said,“I am afraid, Balen Shah has won. I also wished good luck. Also congratulations. But the system is not there. He cannot do it alone. If the system is not fixed, the right people cannot be selected. That doesn't work.”
