Measles and Rubella Immunization campaign: All children of 413 local levels vaccinated

KATHMANDU, March 12: All children of 413 local levels across the country were vaccinated under the Measles and Rubella Immunization campaign launched by the government.


Chief of the Child Health and Immunization Section, Dr Abhiyan Gautam confirmed that all the children of 413 local levels of 24 districts of the country were immunized. The immunization campaign is underway at 180 local levels of 43 districts.

Around 66 per cent children (3.792 million children) have been vaccinated so far. He shared that the immunization campaign has not been launched in 122 local levels of the mountain belt due to snowfall.  The government launched the vaccination drive in 75 districts except Rukum (West) and Jajarkot from February 25 in view of the risk of measles and rubella infection. 


The government has set a target of administering the vaccine against measles and rubella to 5.742 million children in 75 districts. Children under 15 years from nine months are being vaccinated. A total of 49.937 health workers and 59,906 volunteers are mobilized for the vaccination campaign.
