Medical team from Bir and APF hospital flown to earthquake-affected area via army sky truck

KATHMANDU, Nov 4: A team of healthcare workers, comprising members from the Armed Police Force Hospital and Bir Hospital, has been flown to Rukum West and Jajarkot.


SSP Rajendra Khadka, the spokesperson for the Armed Police Force of Nepal, said that a group of 14 healthcare professionals, consisting of eight from the Armed Police Force Hospital and six from Bir Hospital, departed for their mission via a Nepali Army sky truck.

Khadka explained that a Disaster Response System (DRS) container, containing various relief supplies excluding food, was sent from Dang to assist with disaster relief efforts in Rukum West. Additionally, two containers were dispatched from Surkhet to Jajarkot. He also mentioned that disaster management-trained teams are currently stationed in Kurintar and Sinamangal, with plans to send more medical responders to the affected areas.


Furthermore, in response to the crisis, Maheshwari Bahini has been deployed for search and rescue in Jajarkot from Surkhet, along with a team from the Valley Battalion.


According to Nepali Army spokesperson Krishna Prasad Bhandari, the army has been actively involved in search and rescue operations since last night, with additional rescue teams being mobilized. Additionally, a team led by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal departed for the earthquake-affected areas via an army helicopter.
