Melamchi water for the people outside Ring Road as well: KUKL

KATHMANDU, March 5: The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) is to supply water from the Melamchi Water Supply Project to the households outside the Ring Road as well. KUKL General Manager Dr Mahesh Prasad Bhattarai shared this at the fifth annual general meeting of the KUKL here Sunday.

KATHMANDU, March 5: The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) is to supply water from the Melamchi Water Supply Project to the households outside the Ring Road as well. KUKL General Manager Dr Mahesh Prasad Bhattarai shared this at the fifth annual general meeting of the KUKL here Sunday.


The body managing drinking water supply and management in the Kathmandu Valley, is currently supplying around 110 million litres of water on a daily basis against the daily demand that stands at 400 million litres a day, said General Manager Bhattarai.

Furthermore, he said that three tube wells would be constructed in addition within the current fiscal year to facilitate water supply system for the Valley dwellers.KUKL is currently supplying water to the areas in the Valley facing water shortage through 21 tankers daily.


Similarly, Secretary at the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Bhim Prasad Upadhyay, expressed his commitment to deliver the Melamchi's water to the households in the Valley by mid-October.


Likewise, Melamchi Water Supply Development Board Executive Director Ghanashyam Bhattarai informed that the construction of four kilo metres of tunnel is left. RSS
