KATHMANDU, June 6: The monsoon this year entered Nepal before the expected date, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD), Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The MFD in its special weather bulletin on Sunday afternoon confirmed that the monsoon made its entry in the country from Province 1 on Sunday and it will set in motion in other parts of the country after a few days.

In its special bulletin, the MFD stated that June 13 is the tentative date for the arrival of monsoon in Nepal. However, the MFD in its official website stated June 10 as the monsoon onset date.
In Nepal the monsoon enters from the eastern part moving toward the west gradually.
The four-month period from June to September is defined as the monsoon period in South Asia. During this period, Nepal receives 80 percent of its annual rainfall.
