KATHMANDU, Dec 11: Urban Development Minister Metmani Chaudhary has expressed serious displeasure over the delay in government structures under construction.

Soon after taking over the ministry, Urban Minister Chaudhary, who had been monitoring the big structures under construction in the Kathmandu Valley, has again started monitoring the same structures.

Minister Chaudhary held a discussion with the departments and contractor companies concerned after an on-site inspection of the residences of federal ministers, Speakers, Chief Ministers and state heads under construction in Bhaisepati on Saturday.

He asked, “Why is there a delay in the work? Why is the situation the same even after five months? Does a delay increase the commissions?”

After listening to his question, the staff who addressed him said that the delay was due to Covid-19. "Covid is over, right?" the minister asked.

"We couldn't work because the locals were troubling us."

“What can be done to get the job done quickly? Tell me what I should do,'' the minister replies.
