Minister Pun urges Japanese govt for investment in energy sector

KATHMANDU, Aug 21: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Barshaman Pun, has urged the Japanese government to further invest in Nepal's energy and water resource.

Minister Pun urged for this during a courtesy call paid by Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Masamichi Saigo on Wednesday. Mentioning that the 410 MW Nalgad hydropower project was important to equalize development in the provinces, he discussed how it could be forwarded.


Minister Pun reminded that Nepal and Japan had old and friendly relations and thanked the Japanese government for its support to different projects including Kulekhani. On the occasion, Ambassador Saigo said that the study was underway to construct the Nalgad project on the public-private partnership model. He said that he would urge the Japanese citizens to invest in Nepal, according to Minister Pun's Secretariat.
