Minister Sharma directs NTA to manage overhead cables in cities

KATHMANDU, March 5: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma has directed the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) to systematically manage the unmanaged overhead cables in the major cities including the Kathmandu Valley.

KATHMANDU, March 5: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma has directed the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) to systematically manage the unmanaged overhead cables in the major cities including the Kathmandu Valley. 


Addressing a program organized in the capital on Saturday to mark the 25th anniversary of NTA, Minister Sharma said the overhead cables should be managed to keep the roads clean and manage the city.

She also said that the Communication Ministry is working to develop necessary laws and regulations for the NTA and urged all the stakeholders concerned to unite to give immediate results.


On the occasion, Ministry's Joint Secretary Netra Prasad Subedi asked the NTA to expand its services and enhance quality.


Also speaking at the event, NTA Chairman Purushottam Khanal shared that the work to lay underground optical fiber is currently underway for the management of unmanaged overhead cables.
