Minister Yadav asks concerned agencies to ensure pure drinking water in flood-hit districts

KATHMANDU, August 13: Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Mahendra Yadav has issued a directive to the officials in the Ministry to ensure clean drinking water in the flood-affected areas in different parts of the country.

KATHMANDU, August 13: Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Mahendra Yadav has issued a directive to the officials in the Ministry to ensure clean drinking water in the flood-affected areas in different parts of the country. 


At a program organized by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation in Kathmandu on Sunday, Minister Yadav instructed the officials to make an on-site visit to such areas and help address the drinking water crisis and undertake rescue operation.

"Preventive measures should be taken to avert the outbreak of communicable diseases during the disasters that could be caused from the consumption of contaminated water," said Yadav, stressing on sanitation in such areas. 


Present in the meeting were the officials from the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage, Nepal Drinking Water Corporation, Committee of Drinking Water and Sanitation Development Fund, among others, according to Minister Yadav's Press Coordinator Bhusan Pokharel. 


Minister Yadav urged the donor agencies' representatives attending the programme such as OXFAM, UNICEF and Nepal Red Cross Society among others to ensure smooth distribution of drinking water in the areas suffered from the floods. 


Many places in the eastern part of the country, including Biratnagar, are inundated due to the flood in the several rivers and streams. 


He also requested the representatives of the donor agencies for distribution of health kit to the flood-survivors. RSS
