LAHAN, July 19: The Siraha District Health Office has launched free mobile health camp, targeting the areas largely affected by recent monsoon floods. Basbitta and Sarswor of Siraha municipality-6 and Kalyanpur rural municipality-3 were mostly affected by the flooding.

DPHO public health officer Umesh Karna said the decision was taken to conduct the mobile health camp bearing in mind the possibility of risk of infection in the affected areas and to ensure health care services to the survivors.

Some 300 survivors taking temporary shelter in several schools in the most affected areas have already been provided the free healthcare services.

Similarly, the health squads have been mobilized at Kajarnaha rural municipality and various wards along with the Lahan municipality.

Arrangements have been made for the distribution of medicines for jaundice, vomiting and diarrhea, fever, and other health issues through the mobile camps. Several conditions like exposure to floodwaters, compulsion to use contaminated, unhygienic and uncooked food, lack of sufficient food and post-disaster environment have posed risk for various health issues in the affected areas.

The Sukhipur-Bariyarpatti road which had remained disrupted since five days has resumed after the Armed Police Force Office set up a temporary (Bailey) bridge as an alternative to the bridge (along the route) damaged by the floodwater, locals said.
