Monsoon disasters claim 101 lives in Nepal so far

KATHMANDU, July 12: Monsoon-induced disasters have claimed the lives of 101 people across Nepal as of now, with 108 others injured and six still missing.

KATHMANDU, July 12: Monsoon-induced disasters have claimed the lives of 101 people across Nepal as of now, with 108 others injured and six still missing.


According to Nepal Police Spokesperson Dan Bahadur Karki, from June 28, 9 AM, to July 12, 8 AM, the fatalities include one in Kathmandu, 19 in Koshi Province, six in Bagmati Province, 36 in Gandaki Province, 23 in Lumbini Province, four in Karnali, and seven in Sudurpaschim Province.

Among the victims, 27 died in floods, 50 in landslides, and 23 due to lightning strikes.


Currently, two individuals are missing in Koshi, two in Bagmati, and one each in Gandaki and Sudurpaschim.


The police have reported approximately Rs 4.1 million in physical damage caused by these disasters.


To aid in the ongoing search and rescue efforts, 501 police personnel have been deployed.
