KATHMANDU, Sept 30: The monsoon cloud leaving the country is expected to be delayed by a few more days, while there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in the next few days.
The special bulletin issued by the Meteorological Forecast Division under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology stated that the monsoon this year will last for a few more days. Normally, the monsoon cloud that enters Nepal since June 13 leaves the country around October 2.
Monsoon has a few more days to fully exit Nepal
The division has come up with the prediction based on the low pressure effect developing at present in the north-western part of the Bay of Bengal. Due to the development of a rain-making system (low pressure area), there is a possibility of rain and change in weather in the next few days.
Sanjeev Adhikari, a meteorologist at the division, said the process of monsoon exit has already started from the western parts of India. “However, as the low pressure area has formed in the Bay of Bengal and it is becoming stronger and moving towards the north-west, it seems that it will take some more time for the monsoon to leave Nepal.”
The division has predicted that the eastern and central regions of Nepal are likely to face the impacts of the recently developed low pressure in coming days. According to the prediction, Koshi and Madhesh provinces and a number of locations of the hill region will have light to moderate rainfall along with lightning and thunderstorms.
