More than 20 activists arrested from PM’s residence at Baluwatar

KATHMANDU, July 14: Police have arrested more than 20 rights’ activists protesting in front of Prime Minister’s Residence, Balwatar. Of those arrested include Krishna Pahari, Gangadhar Adhikari, Krishna Kandel and Tika Paudel.

KATHMANDU, July 14: Police have arrested more than 20 rights’ activists protesting in front of Prime Minister’s Residence, Balwatar. Of those arrested include Krishna Pahari, Gangadhar Adhikari, Krishna Kandel and Tika Paudel.


The activists were urging the government to address pressing demands that have caught attention of the country; the fast unto death of Dr. Govinda KC, Ganga Maya’s search for justice and removing prohibitory orders on selected protest areas.

The Oli led government has been criticized for its decisions to encroach freedom of expression while being accused of totalitarian regime.


Activists argue that such intolerance from the government was against state’s promise to guarantee human rights and freedom of expression enshrined in the Nepali constitution. It also deterred anyone from seeking justice.
