KATHMANDU, June 10: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that more than 85 percent of COVID-19 patients in Nepal are India-returnees.
Addressing the parliament, PM Oli said that the number of infected people returning to Nepal from India is huge.

“Currently, almost 10,000 people are entering into Nepal every day,” PM Oli said, adding that Nepalis have come to the Nepal-India border region by railways, where they get infected.
“It is not like people have been infected in quarantine facilities. People come infected with the virus and later they test positive for COVID-19,” said PM Oli.
He also said the total number of people entering into Nepal from India from mid-April to mid-May stood at 7,478. The number increased to 222,614 in mid-May to mid-June, he added.
“The number of people returning from India is huge. Despite all the circumstances, all the three tiers of the government have been working to contain the spread of the virus,” said Oli, adding that there has been a problem in testing as the number of India-returnees is large.
