KATHMANDU, June 17: CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has asked Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to be alert during his upcoming US visit, cautioning that prime minister that he might be made to drink whiskey and mark his signature on the controversial US State Partnership Program (SPP) while in the US.
Speaking at a discussion organized by the International Relations Committee on Friday, Chairman Nepal drew the attention of Prime Minister Deuba to the fact that, as a strategy, some foreign countries sometimes don’t resort to mounting pressure but instead try to coax and cajole other countries into agreeing to what they want by luring with whiskey, sweets and other gifts. He noted that while the SPP has received differing views, recent developments have raised concerns over the intention of the agreement.

Chairman Nepal also questioned whether the current government is ready to stick to Nepal's non-aligned foreign policy. He mentioned that the recent actions of the government had raised questions adding that there was no need to be sacred while talking or doing anything in the interest of the country.
Chairman Nepal said that the government should clarify and answer all the questions regarding the SPP.
