KATHMANDU, April 3: The National Muslim Commission has pledged to build 100 prefab houses for the victims of the windstorm which struck Bara and Parsa district on Sunday evening, killing at least 28 and rendering 343 injured.
“We have decided to build 100 prefab houses for the victims who lost their houses to the storm,” head of the commission, Samim Miya Ansari, said. He added that the commission has also decided to bear the cost of education of Saheb Ansari, 14, of Feta Rural Municiaplity-6, who lost all her four family members to the storm.
Relief for storm victims, help pledges pour in
While three villages — Purainiya, Bharbaliya and Bhaluhi Gachhiya — in Bara were severely hit by the storm, several others villages in Bara and Parsa were partially affected. It is estimated that over 400 houses were completely destroyed in the three most affected villages, leaving thousands homeless. The storm also killed hundreds of livestock and damaged crops.
The Province 2 government is to provide Rs 300,000 each to the families of those killed and free of cost treatment to the injured as well as build houses for the affected.
