NA members demand action against guilty in Dilip Mahato's killing

KATHMANDU, Jan 12: In a meeting of the National Assembly (NA) today, lawmakers demanded stern action against those responsible for the killing of one Dilip Kumar Mahato of Dhanusha.

KATHMANDU, Jan 12: In a meeting of the National Assembly (NA) today, lawmakers demanded stern action against those responsible for the killing of one Dilip Kumar Mahato of Dhanusha.


Dilip was allegedly crushed to death by a tipper few days ago in course of protesting against the illegal mining in Dhanusha.

Speaking in a special hour of the session, Dr Bimala Rai Poudel said only taking legal action against the perpetrator(s) would not be enough to sort out the issue, it must be ensured that such thing would never reoccur in the future. "Uncontrolled mining should be stopped."


Other lawmakers Komal Oli and Brishesh Chandra Lal aired their voices against the killing of Mahato for his move for environment and nature conservation. Seeking stern action against the perpetrator(s), they questioned the role of police administration in dealing with the case fairly.


Pramila Kumari and Ramlakhan Chamar drew the government's attention towards growing cases of violence across the country and poor implementation of the provision of interest-free educational loan.


Jitendra Narayan Dev stressed the Millennium Challenge Corporation be passed as it is while Sher Bahadur Kunwar voiced for not forgetting the contribution of the late king Prithivi Narayan Shah in the unification of modern Nepal.


Jeevan Budha called for giving a full shape to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Commission for Inquiry of Enforced Disappearances while Binda Devi Ale asked why the governed was silent about the Wide-Body procurement issues.
