Both upper and lower houses of parliament pass condolence motion on Nembang's demise

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: Today's meeting of the National Assembly and the House of representatives passed a condolence motion on the demise of Chairperson of the Constituent Assembly, former Speaker, member of House of Representatives and CPN (UML) Vice-Chairperson Subas Chandra Nembang.

KATHMANDU, Sept 14: Today's meeting of the National Assembly and the House of representatives passed a condolence motion on the demise of Chairperson of the Constituent Assembly, former Speaker, member of House of Representatives and CPN (UML) Vice-Chairperson Subas Chandra Nembang.


Born on Falgun 28, 2009 BS, Nembang died on Tuesday due to a heart attack. He was 71.

He was a member of the National Assembly from the CPN-UML in 2048 BS and 2052 BS and House of Representatives in 2056 BS. Similarly, he served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives in 2063 BS and as the chairman of the Constituent Assembly in both 2065 BS and 2070 BS. Nembang also won the election to the House of Representatives from Ilam Constituency-2 in 2074 BS and 2079 BS. 


Nembang also served as the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs as well as Minister for General Administration. He played a leading role in the constitution making process through the Constituent Assembly. 


The National Assembly will meet next at 1:01 pm on September 29.
