KATHMANDU, Feb 6: The Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has called for international tenders bids for leasing two narrow-body aircraft.

The flag carrier of Nepal invited the tenders to enhance its international flight services.

According to the NAC's action plan, the two wide-body aircraft currently with the NAC have been used for flights to Japan, Sydney and South Korea.

The NAC plans to lease new aircraft as the existing aircraft cannot handle the flight pressure for other destinations.

Issuing a statement, the NAC said that leasing new aircraft will help maintain the flight pressure for destinations like New Delhi, Dubai, Doha, Malaysia and other destinations.

The NAC further said that its revenue is expected to rise with the addition of these two aircraft. Moreover, NAC plans to expand its operations to various destinations from Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa.

Several committees formed by the government, including the NAC Reforms Recommendation Commission, have repeatedly recommended the need for more aircraft to facilitate the NAC's business expansion.

The NAC is about to add more aircraft for business expansion under its 10-year business plan at the initiative of Ubaraj Adhikari, the executive chairman of the NAC, and a special instruction of Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kiranti.
