KATHMANDU, April 24: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has started homework to conduct flights to Australia.
Ganesh Ghimire, information officer of the NAC, said they have proposed to conduct flights to Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport from Nepal. According to him, the national flag carrier has started a feasibility study to carry out flights connecting Kathmandu-Singapore-Sydney.

Australia is one of the attractive destinations for Nepali students for higher study. Citing a possibility to cater to the needs of the Nepali students to travel to and from Australia, the NAC aims to conduct two-way regular flights to the country.
According to a report, around 52,000 Nepali students were enrolled in Australia-based colleges as of October 2019. In the past three years, the number is estimated to have increased to over 65,700.
At present, the NAC has been using its two narrow-body and two wide-body aircraft to conduct international flights. The state-owned corporation has been flying regularly to New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Qatar, Dubai, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, Thailand and Japan.
