JUMLA, Feb 3: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has started AN online ticket system for flights to remote destinations including Jumla from Nepalgunj.

NAC has started the online e-ticket  system from Thursday. Kiran Shrestha, head of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Nepalgunj, said that online ticketing has started in the districts of Jumla, Humla, Dolpa, Mugu, Rukum and Bajura, where flights from Nepalgunj are conducted.

He said that the service was started from Thursday for the first time. He  pointed out the objective of starting e-ticket in remote areas. As only those who have access to the power corridors get flight tickets in the rural and remote areas and it is difficult for the common people to get tickets so the e-ticketing system has been started.

From  February 2, the e-ticketing system of NAC has started in all districts of Karnali. Tsering Lhamu Lama Tamang, a member of parliament (MP) representing Jumla has been trying to solve air and transport problems since she became an MP.

She has submitted a request to Sudan Kirarti ,the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to solve the problem of air flights in Karnali and Jumla. After the continuous initiative of MP Lama, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has started an e-ticket  system in Karnali.

“The most difficult issue faced by Karnali, including Jumla, is the problem of lack of flights and transportation. Since flights are not regular, there is a problem in the distribution of tickets for the aircraft while citizens are facing hardship since ages,” said MP Lama, “Right from the first day of becoming an MP, I have been working continuously to solve this issue.”

She gave a written letter to Minister Kirarti on February 2 on the need to upgrade the e-ticket  and airport of Jumla. She said that she had also met Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha regarding the problem of the Karnali Highway and made a demand.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of the Government of Nepal, Sudan Kirarti, said that the e-ticketing system was implemented immediately because the citizens had to face trouble in finding air tickets.

The locals are happy,  saying that it will be easier for them after the implementation of the e-ticket system. Raj Bahadur Kunwar, chairman of Civil Society Jumla, said that this system will make getting air tickets easier for the local people.

MP Tsering said that efforts are being made to implement online tickets on other private aircraft and to upgrade the airport. Dambar Khatri, an employee of Nepal Airlines Jumla, said that online ticketing has also been implemented in Jumla.
