Organizers expecting Rs 5 billion worth of sales, bookings

KATHMANDU, Sept 3: The 13th edition of NADA Auto Show will be held in Kathmandu in the second week of September.

The largest automobile show in the country is being organized jointly by Nepal Automobiles Dealers Association (NADA) and Global Exposition and Management Services (GEMS) at the Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall in Kathmandu between September 11 and 16.

Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on Sunday, the organizers said that Servo Lubricants is the title sponsor of the event.

The 13th NADA Auto Show will exhibit renowned automobile brands across the world, according to the organizers. They added that the auto show is aimed at publicizing and promoting modern and technological advancements in the automobile sector.

The show will have three separate hangars for four-wheelers, two-wheelers and auto components. Unlike past years, the show will not have exhibition space for heavy vehicles due to space constraints, the organizers said in the press meet.

Officiating President of NADA Krishna Dulal said that electrical cars will be the attraction for visitors in this year's expo. "We are expecting Rs 5 billion worth of bookings during the auto show," he said, adding: "Last year, sales and bookings were sluggish. We are expecting the situation to improve this year."

A mandatory provision of 35 percent cash down payment, or financing of only 65 percent of the price of motor vehicles, as well as high interest rate on auto loans had affected the auto show last year. "We are lobbying with the government to increase ceiling for automobile financing as well as take needful steps to bring down interest rates to give the much-needed boost to the automobiles sector," he added.

According to the organizers, the auto show will showcase 19 brands of two-wheelers and 20 brands of four-wheelers section. The exhibition will also have stalls for spare parts, tires, lubricants, garage equipment, battery and other auto accessories.

"Altogether there will be 71 exhibitors, importers, dealers, distributors and manufacturers, showcasing their products and services in 135 stalls and blocks," the organizers said, adding that there will also cafeteria, and media and traffic police desks.

The organizers are also giving away attractive door prizes. "Lucky winners will get Coolpad Mega 2.5D every day. The price is sponsored by Jai Maa Intercontinental Pvt Ltd," the statement added.

The expo had attracted footfalls of 65,000 last year which was higher than the target of 50,000 set by the organizers. This year the organizers are expecting 60,000 visitors from across the country.
