KATHMANDU, May 10: Kalanidhi Indira Sangeet Mahavidyalaya has felicitated various artists and Nagarik daily for their contribution to the field of art, music and songs.
Organizing a function in the capital on Thursday to mark its 56th founding anniversary, the Mahavidyalaya felicitated Director of Nepal Republic Media, Shova Gyawali, with Upendra- Gopal Krishna Devi, Padam Krishna-Baba Kumari Kalanidhi Sangeet Samman, for making both direct and indirect contribution to the promotion of songs and music through the news.

Centenarian and cultural expert Satya Mohan Joshi and chairperson and patron of Mahavidyala, Indira Shrestha, felicitated Director Gyawali with a shawl, a trophy and a purse of Rs 20,000. Director Gyawali handed over Rs 40,000 to the Mahavidyalaya by adding Rs 20,000 to provide scholarships to the needy and diligent students of the Mahavidyalaya.
Similarly, singer Gyanu Rana was felicitated with the Aishwarya Kalanidhi Sangeet Samman in the modern and folk songs genre. While classical Tabala player Jiwan Rai was awarded the Shruti Yuwa Kalanidhi Sangeet Samman, dance director Raju Shah bagged the Keshab Sakuna Kalanidi Sangeet Samman.
Similarly, musician and singer late Rajbhai Bajracharya was posthumously felicitated with Indrashila Prabhu Samarpan Kalanidhi Sangeet Samman and music promoter Shyam Lal Shrestha with Balkrishna, Balkumari, Mathuradevi Kalanidhi Sangeet Samman. Classical singer Bhola Rai, singer of modern songs Shiva Pariyar, litterateur Subash Chandra Dhungel and artiste Kiran Shakya were also among those presented various awards on the
occasion.
