National anthem writer Byakul Maila bereaved

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Writer of the national anthem and poet Pradeep Kumar Rai ‘Byakul Maila’ has been bereaved of his father. The poet’s father Man Bahadur Rai died at his residence at Hilepani in Okhaldhunga district at 1:00 am today. He was 71.

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: Writer of the national anthem and poet Pradeep Kumar Rai ‘Byakul Maila’ has been bereaved of his father. The poet’s father Man Bahadur Rai died at his residence at Hilepani in Okhaldhunga district at 1:00 am today. He was 71. 


Man Bahadur was suffering from hematoma and diabetes for some years, the family source said. A retired teacher after two decades of service, Rai was involved in many social services in recent years. He also served as the chairman of the VDC and member of the Okhaldhunga District Development Committee (DDC) in the past.

The final rite of Man Bahadur would be performed by today itself as per the ethnic traditions of his community, it is said. The late Rai is survived by two wives and three sons including national anthem writer Byakul Maila.
