KATHMANDU, Sept 10: The two-day national conference of legal practitioners representing Dalit community concluded Saturday, issuing a 13-point declaration.

The declaration demands the formulation and implementation of laws, policies, plans and programs in line with the letter and spirit of various international instruments like the Universal Periodic Review, 2015 and the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

The statement also appeals to make all laws farmed and enforced to ensure access to justice for helpless, suppressed and disadvantaged people and the rights of Dalit community.

It also calls for making judiciary inclusive. Meanwhile, concluding the convention that was held jointly by the National Dalit Commission (NDC) and the Inclusive Foundation, Minister for Youth and Sports Daljit Sripaili, in response, said preparations were underway to table and discuss in the Parliament the Bill related to Dalit community outlined by the NDC.

Acknowledging the need for uplifting 'long-suppressed' Dalit community economically, socially and educationally, the minster expressed his commitment to end increasing incidents of discrimination and untouchability against Dalit community lately. RSS
