KATHMANDU, July 29: After prolonged delay due to the continued lockdown enforced by the government to contain the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the National Examination Board (NEB) has geared up preparation to publish the final result of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) within a week.
According to Durga Prashad Aryal, who is a member-secretary of NEB, they are currently expediting the process of reviewing the marks sent by schools through District Coordination Units. “We are in the final phase of evaluating marks sent by respective schools,” said Aryal.
NEB prepares to publish SEE results later this week
The nationwide annual examination for Grade 10 scheduled earlier for March 19 was postponed amid growing concerns over the spread of Covid-19. The examination was postponed for long as the lockdown continued for 120 days.
The NEB on June 10 decided to scrap the examination for this year as there were calls from various quarters to scrap the examination in view of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Ministry of Education, more than 480,000 students from across the nation were appearing for the SEE examination.
The nationwide lockdown imposed from March 24 in order to curb the spread of COVID-19 had caused troubles in academic curriculums of all levels. The ministry after deciding to scrap the examination had then decided to publish the final results on the basis of internal assessment marks of individual students sent by their respective schools. “We are hopeful that the results might be published within this week,” said Aryal.
Responding to concerns that schools might send marks haphazardly, Aryal mentioned that the board has taken strict measures to ensure that the marks sent by the schools are fair and reasonable. “There are criticisms that schools might send marks randomly. But the Board has directed the schools to send marks of internal assessments in a fair manner,” he said.
