KATHMANDU, Dec 11: Head coach of the Nepali National Football Team, Johan Kalin, has stepped down from his post. He tendered his resignation on October 17 to be effective from November 1.
A meeting of the 11th Executive Committee of All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) on Thursday decided to approve Swedish-national Kalin's resignation.
Maharjan announced acting head coach of nat’l football team
Following his resignation approval, Balgopal Maharjan was appointed as the acting head coach of the national team.
Kalin had been appointed the head coach of the Nepali Football Team on March 1, 2019 whose first game in charge of the national team was against Kuwait on March 21, 2019.
Nepal team played 11 games -- including one against Malaysian club Johor Darul Tazim FC, winning one, drawing two and losing eight-- during his term.
Kalin flew to his home country, Sweden, on March 27 following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. He did not come back to Nepal to assume his national team duties owing to travel restrictions imposed amid COVID-19 fears.
