National identity card is mandatory to get driving license

KATHMANDU, May 19: The government has announced stricter arrangements for obtaining national identity cards. President Ram Chandra Paudel made this announcement while presenting the government's policies and programs for the upcoming fiscal year (FY 2023/24) at the joint meeting of the Federal Parliament on Friday.

In the policies and programs, it has been arranged that a national identity card number is required for opening a bank account, getting a vehicle license, issuing house design approval and getting a permanent account number. This work is stated in the policies and programs to be implemented within the next three years. The government has also said that the citizen's biological details will be taken only once.
