National Planning Commission gets full shape

KATHMANDU, June 6: The National Planning Commission (NPC) has received a full shape with newly-appointed member Anita Shah Dhungana taking the oath of office and secrecy.

KATHMANDU, June 6: The National Planning Commission (NPC) has received a full shape with newly-appointed member Anita Shah Dhungana taking the oath of office and secrecy.


The newly-appointed member Dhungana took the oath of office and secrecy before the NPC Vice Chairman Min Bahadur Shrestha on Sunday. Dhungana was appointed as a woman member of the NPC by a cabinet meeting held on May 28.

Active in the social and political field, Dhungana also has experience working in the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). She has also held the leadership position of various cooperatives and microfinance institutions.


Earlier, Ram Kumar Phuyal, Jayakant Raut, Prabhu Budhathoki, RP Bichha and Ramesh Paudel have been appointed as members of the NPC. Newly-appointed member Dhungana has the responsibility of looking after women, children and senior citizens, communication and information technology, law, justice and parliamentary affairs as well as Karnali province.


Among the previously appointed members, Phuyal was given the responsibility of Industry, Commerce and Supply, Tourism, Labor and Employment, Statistics and Far West Province, while  Raut was given the responsibility of Agriculture, Land, Cooperatives and Water Supply.


Similarly, Budhathoki has been given the responsibility of Energy, Forest, Public Private Partnership as well as Bagmati Province, Bichha has been given the responsibility of Health and Population, Federal Affairs and General Administration as well as Koshi Province, while Paudel has been given the responsibility of Education, Urban Development, Youth and Sports and Bagmati Province.
