KATHMANDU, Dec 20: The OPC cement manufactured by three cement industries has been found of low quality.
A test conducted recently by Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology (NBSM) under the Ministry of Industry has found more than required amount of magnesium in the cement manufactured by Hongshi Cement Industries (Nawalparasi), Arghakhanchi Cement Industries (Rupandehi) and Jagadamba Cement Industries (Bara).
Cement factories found flouting quality standards
The cement should contain maximum five percent of magnesium but the cement produced by these industries has more than required quantity of magnesium, said Bishwa Babu Pudasaini, Director General of Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology.
The cement containing more than five percent magnesium is not considered of good quality.
The NBSM has already dispatched a letter to the industries directing them to adjust the amount of magnesium accordingly, warning of cancellation of their licenses if not adjusted immediately.
