NC and UML ahead in most of the local levels

KATHMANDU, May 16: The first phase of local elections held on Sunday saw 40 levels of results declared on Tuesday evening.



Two big parties of the parliament, CPN-UML and Nepali Congress (NC) are neck-to-neck of each other.



CPN (Maoist Center) is following the CPN-UML and NC, who are looking to leave their rivals behind.



According to the results gathered in the afternoon, CPN-UML has captured 15 mayoral posts in the two local levels. NC has gained 14 mayoral posts of the same local levels and MC has obtained 10 mayoral posts.



Likewise on the ongoing vote count, NC has taken lead in 59 mayoral posts in the 28 local levels. UML is ahead in 63 posts in the 37 and MC is front in 23 posts in 12. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is currnelty leading in just one place. But, RPP hasn’t been able to win any mayoral post.



Likewise, Naya Shakti Party Nepal (NSPN) is ahead in three places, Rastriya Janmorcha Party in two places and Nepal Majdur Kisan in just one. Independent candidate has won in one place.
