KATHMANDU, May 21: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC), has challenged the government to form a parliamentary committee to investigate the party’s youth leaders Dhanraj Gurung and Gagan Thapa.

Addressing the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on Tuesday, NC Joint General Secretary Badri Pandey said that there would be no issue if a probe committee is formed against Gurung, the Vice-President, and Thapa, the General Secretary.

This challenge comes as the NC continues to obstruct parliament meetings demanding the formation of a parliamentary probe committee to investigate Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane’s alleged involvement in a cooperative fraud case.

Despite ongoing parliamentary obstruction by opposition parties, the government has been reluctant to form such a committee to investigate Lamichhane.

Pandey also noted that Home Minister Lamichhane had made serious allegations against Gurung and Thapa on Sunday.

“If found guilty, the government can take action against any leader of our party,” Pandey said.
