NC Joint General Secretary Yadav attacked with Khukuri

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: A man has attacked Nepali Congress Joint General Secretary Mahendra Yadav with a Khukuri in the federal capital Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU, Sept 6: A man on Wednesday attacked Nepali Congress (NC) Joint General Secretary Mahendra Yadav with a Khukuri knife in the federal capital Kathmandu.


Spokesperson at the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Superintendent of Police (SP) Kumod Dhungel confirmed that Yadav had been attacked while exiting from the Reporters Club in Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Shyam Sapkota, a resident of Nuwakot, struck him with the sharp weapon. Police have arrested Sapkota and expedited further investigation into the incident. Yadav is currently undergoing treatment at the Trauma Center of Bir Hospital. Police said they are trying to ascertain the motive behind the attack. 


Meanwhile, the NC has condemned the physical attack against Joint General-Secretary Yadav. Issuing a press statement, NC Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel demanded an investigation and stern action against those involved in the incident. The party also wished Yadav a speedy recovery.
