KATHMANDU, August 4: Former Vice President of Nepali Congress (NC) Bimalendra Nidhi has held a meeting with Indian Minister for Road Transport and Highways of India Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi.
During the meeting held at the residence of Minister Gadkari on Wednesday, , The two leaders discussed issues of Nepal's physical infrastructure development. NC leader Nidhi urged India to construct Ayodhya-Bhittamod four-lane road up to Nepal's Jatahi border via Girija Sthan of Madhubani district of India, according to Nidhi’s Press Advisor Ramji Dahal.

After the request of leader Nidhi, Minister Gadkari immediately telephoned officers of the ministry and Department of Road and directed them to put the construction of additional road up to Jatahi check point in the Ministry's programme, according to Dahal.
It may be recalled that the Jatahi-Janakpur-Dhalkebar six-lane road project was completed when Nidhi was the Minister for Physical Infrastructure. During the meeting, Nidhi urged the Indian minister to consider developing an alternative international trade route from Kolkata Port to Nepal's Jatahi border via Darbhanga.
Separately, Nidhi also held a meeting with Indian Minister of Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat at the residence of Gadkari. During the meeting, they touched on the issues relating the enhancement of roadways in both the countries, water resources and hydropower development and the control of floods.
Ambassador of Nepal to India Dr Shankar Sharma was also present on the occasion. He presented issues pertaining to the Line of Credit and India's technical assistance in Nepal's infrastructure development.
