KATHMANDU, Sept 15: Ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has decided not to allow the members of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies elected through the Proportional Representation (PR) system on behalf of the party in earlier elections to become the candidates under the same electoral system again.

Clause 33 (2) of the NC Statute has specified that the persons elected as members of HOR and Provincial Assemblies under the PR system on behalf of the party would not be allowed to become candidates for the same again.

However, those elected under the PR system in earlier parliamentary elections could be the candidates in the first-past-the-post election to the members of HoR and Provincial Assemblies, stated NC party chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel.
