KATHMANDU, Jan 18: The Nepali Congress (NC) will nominate its candidate for the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives after discussing with the allied parties.
On Wednesday, the meeting of party officials held at the residence of party President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Dhumbarahi decided to nominate the candidate for the post of Speaker.

NC Spokesperson and MP Dr Prakasharan Mahat said that since there is still some time left for the meeting to register the candidacy for the speaker, they are preparing to nominate the speaker after discussing with other parties.
He also said that since Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has promised to select constitutional posts based on national consensus, the NC is in favor of waiting for the Prime Minister's official opinion.
