NC urges govt to book those involved in rape and murder of Bhagarathi Bhatta at the earliest

KATHMANDU, Feb 12: Nepali Congress (NC) has urged the government to intensify investigation into rape and murder case of Bhagarathi Bhatta and book those involved in the case as soon as possible.


Issuing a press statement on Friday, the party expressed serious concern over incompetency of concerned authorities in probing the case and providing justice to the victim and the family.

Dead body of Bhatta still awaits cremation at the District Hospital of Baitadi as the family members have refused to receive the body unless they see those involved in the case behind the bars.


Nepal has witnessed sharp rise in rape and other social violence in recent years. Those involved in rape and murder of Nirmala Pant is still on large.


Government needs to take this issue seriously and take strong action against the perpetrators, reads the statement.


Likewise, Ramesh Lekhak, a central committee member of NC, is heading to Baitadi for the field based study of the Bhagarathi rape case. He will then submit a report regarding the case, the statement further reads.
