NC Vice President Gachchhadar released on Rs 1 million bail

KATHMANDU, July 14: Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar, who had been facing a corruption charge on Lalita Niwas land grab scam, has been released on bail.


NC Vice President Gachchhadar was released after he posted a bail amount of Rs 1 million at the Special Court on Wednesday.

Gachchhadar went missing for a long time after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed a corruption case on the Lalita Niwas land grab scam at the Special Court. He had presented himself before the court on Wednesday and submitted the bail amount.


Gachchhadar is accused of involving in corruption of Rs 96.5 million by transferring the ownership of the state-owned land belonging to the Lalita Niwas in the names of individuals. He was then serving as Minister for Physical Planning and Transport.
