Nearly 2,000 security personnel deployed in Jumla for Nov 20 polls

JUMLA, Nov 17: The District Election Office has said that the preparations for the election to be held on November 20 in Jumla have been completed. Security personnel have been deployed to make voting easier for voters. According to the District Administration Office, Jumla, 1,954 security personnel are deployed in Jumla for the elections.

JUMLA, Nov 17: The District Election Office has said that the preparations for the election to be held on November 20 in Jumla have been completed. Security personnel have been deployed to make voting easier for voters. According to the District Administration Office, Jumla, 1,954 security personnel are deployed in Jumla for the elections.


Assistant chief district officer of Jumla, Pramila Rizal said that there are 106 permanent and two temporary polling stations in Jumla, 118 polling centre and 86 polling stations. According to him, a temporary polling station has been set up for staff and one for prison inmates. Employees and inmates in prisons are allowed to vote only under the proportional election system.

The security agencies in Jumla have taken the clash of party workers, activities of criminal groups, and illegal arms as challenges. As many as 1,954 security personnel are deployed in the district for the election. Of them, 843 temporary police personnel, 226 Nepal Police personnel, 450 Nepali Army personnel and 235 Armed Police Force personnel are deployed. 


Mahesh Sharma, chief of the District Election Office, Jumla, said that the preparations for the elections have reached the final stage. According to him, polling officers who are far away have gone and the process of going to nearby polling stations is continuing. But on November 17, all polling station staff were supposed to arrive.


Similarly, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Narendra Chand, security personnel will reach all polling stations by Thursday. There are 848 employees to hold the elections in the district.
